50 años: il dolce far niente

Il Dolce Far Niente...

On April 2, 2026, my fiftieth birthday began in the most unexpectedly perfect way: lying on a hotel bed in Rome at 3:30 a.m., victims of jet lag, sharing apples and deep conversations with my daughter. While the city slept, we talked about the trip to Italy, what we had seen, and what remained to be discovered; that everyday gesture —the fruit in our hands, the low voice in the dark— became the true beginning of the celebration.

I decided to celebrate turning fifty by walking slowly, aimless and unhurried. Every photograph in this series was born from that deliberately slow pace, from that "il dolce far niente" that lets you see how shadows lengthen over ancient walls, how textures speak without words, and how beauty arises when you stop to behold it: on a corner, in a street, in a church, on a weathered façade, in the seemingly insignificant and unexpected.
